Discovering Extraordinary Grace in an Ordinary Life

A Lifeline of Hope

I talked to You today.

Words pouring out

pulling out

from those deep places in me.

I wasn’t making sense,

but you didn’t mind.

You listened

and let me be me.

In all of the imperfect

real ways

I get the words right,

I get so many wrong.

And finally, I was quiet.

Just waiting

trying to be comfortable

in the silence.

I don’t know what to do

when You’re silent.

I wonder if You’ve gone

and left me alone.

But I desperately grip

the promises

that raise up from the page

like braille to my blind heart.

You are there

In the silence

In the words

In the imperfect.

And that promise

is a lifeline of hope

drawing me

to Your heart.

It’s been a long time since I let words come so freely poetic. I’ve missed it. I hope it brings you a little closer to God’s heart for you today!

Sharing words with these great writers today!

About Becky Hastings

I am emotional and logical. I am strong and dependent. I am a juxtaposition of head and heart exploring it all through writing. And in all my mixed-up ways I am loved. I'm here to tell you that you are, too. Just the way you are.
