My Ink Dance

Discovering Extraordinary Grace in an Ordinary Life

Cue the Balloons & Confetti!

I’m so excited to share an announcement with you today! Before I tell you the big news, the fun is that this isn’t just about me. This is about a beautiful network of bloggers seeking to encourage one another, but also to encourage YOU!

It's time to celebrate! See why @ My Ink Dance.

My Ink Dance is honored to be nominated for the Liebster Award! I was nominated by Esther who creates stunning planning resources in her Etsy shop, and writes at Chosen and Cherished. Let that sink in for a moment.

Chosen and Cherished

Just like her blog title, she encourages you in God’s truth about who you are. And we all need more of that.

I'm honored to be nominated for the Liebster award!

The Liebster Award is a virtual award given by bloggers to bloggers to showcase amazing work and encourage one another. I’m grateful to be part of such a generous group!

You ready? Here goes:

11 Things You Should Know About Me

1) I love chocolate. Seriously. This is one of my current faves.

2) I love my people. Maybe this should have gone first? If they know who they are and they know they are loved I am happy.

3) God healed me when I was eleven. It was amazing. You can read a little about that at (in)courage.

4) Bed makes me happy. It may be my favorite place.

5) My eyes change color. Blue, grey, green, and everything in between. What I wear, the weather, and even my mood can change their color.

6) I spent a summer in New Zealand doing missions work when I was fifteen. It was amazing.

7) Books are my favorite.

8) But I love tv too!

9) I go to the rocky shore when I’m upset. There isn’t much that the sand, sea, and salty air can’t make better.

10) I wrote a novel. It’s in the editing phase. I do not like this phase.

11) I was an only child for 15 years, but now I have six brothers and sisters!

If I could give you a cupcake right now, I would!

To dig a little deeper, Esther had a few questions for me. I’m doing this speed round style, first thing that comes to mind. Brace yourself!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? First woman president. Seriously. Now I hate politics.

What has been your greatest struggle with blogging? Writing for the love not the “fame”.

Aside from the Bible, what is your favorite book? Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers (I have tons of other great reads here!)

How would you describe your perfect day? My people, chocolate, and the water

What three words describe you best? Loving, loyal and opinionated 🙂

Besides God, who has influenced you most? My mama showed me what love is, my dad showed me that love can heal, my husband showed me that love can stay, and my kids showed me that love can become.

What is your favorite holiday? What makes it unique? Thanksgiving. It’s the food and the people. That simple.

What is your hidden talent? I can flare my nostrils

Name your three favorite foods. Wait? There are foods other than chocolate?! (ok fine: chocolate, peanut butter, and key lime pie)

What would you like to be remembered most for? Loving well

Growing up, what was your favorite cartoon or TV show? Anything on TGIF (Who’s the Boss, Growing Pains)

About Becky Hastings

I am emotional and logical. I am strong and dependent. I am a juxtaposition of head and heart exploring it all through writing. And in all my mixed-up ways I am loved. I'm here to tell you that you are, too. Just the way you are.

It has been on my heart to do so, I have to hop off here to play with the kids but will be praying for the words. Blessings to you!

And your comment about being challenged to write for the love and not for fame…you slay me! That’s my biggest challenge with blogging. Glad I was your neighbor today over at #coffeeforyourheart. Have a blessed week!

    1. Becky Hastings

It can be so hard, this writing life! But it’s good. I’m working on shifting my focus from just the art of words to a ministry. Every word we write, about God or not, can be a ministry! Then it’s not about us 🙂 I’d love to sit and eat some chocolate with you as we move forward in His call 🙂

  10. Becky I was on the road and just saw this!! Congratulation to you : ) What an encouragement! I’m so glad God has blessed you with this nomination and am so grateful for your passing it on!! 12. Congratulations on the nomination! It’s fun to be recognized by our peers and to bless someone else with encouragement and a little extra traffic love! And chocolate…I stopped eating added sugar last January BUT I have found an extra dark chocolate 85% cocoa with no added sugar!! I may or may not have done a bit of a happy dance in the grocery store aisle!

    1. Becky Hastings

Thanks Melissa! No added sugar? I give you credit girl! So happy you found a chocolate treat though 🙂
